Fresh text scams are going around where the scammers are pretending to be from the government and claiming you haven't claimed your heating allowance yet. People are being urged to be vigilant and not open any links or reply to the messages. The government says they will never text or ring you asking for bank details.
The text reads ''DWP Benefits Office are in process of issuing winter benefits. As you have not yet submitted an application for the 2024-2025 allowance, the payment cannot be completed''.
It goes on to state ''Please complete your application by the deadline of 16 April 2025 as only eligible applicants will receive between £200 and £300 of allowance''.
