STORMONT TAKES OVER CODA FUNDING

The department of economy has taking over the funding costs of City of Airport (CODA). The economy minister Caoimhe Archibald has said that her department has now assumed responsibility, and will provide up to £3m annually in a deal that runs until 2029.

She said it will allow the airport to plan for future grow in the years ahead.

CODA has been rather successful in the last number of months with the introduction of airline easyJet operating flights from and to Liverpool and Edinburgh and recently announced they will take over Ryanair's Birmingham route from September.

The airport has three airlines, Scottish carrier Loganair which operate to and from London Heathrow and Glasgow while Ryanair operate to and from Manchester in addition to easyJet's routes.
